Expedia’s most recent Travel Trends Report has revealed that 2022 will be the Year of the GOAT – when travellers want their next holiday to be their “Greatest Of All Trips”. According to the research, which polled 12,000 travellers across 12 countries, 68% are planning to go big on their next trip. 

The #goat mindset means making up for lost time, the feeling of having made the most out of their trip, and the desire to treat themselves more than ever before. After almost 2 years of constraints, cancelled trips and postponed celebrations, travellers are ready for their ‘splurge-cation’ and happy to spend on what makes a trip go from good to great.

2022 will be about quality, not quantity. This includes visiting a bucket-list destination, stepping out of their comfort zone in pursuit of transformative and meaningful travel experiences, and indulging in luxurious treats, such as upgrading their flights and hotel rooms.
